Nana Acheampong, a veteran musician and one-half of the iconic Lumba Brothers duo, has paid an emotional tribute to his longtime collaborator and friend, Daddy Lumba, following the highlife legend’s death on July 26, 2025.

Taking to Facebook to share his sorrow, Nana Acheampong reflected on the painful reality of the loss.

“It has been difficult for me to accept this sad news. Menua Kojo Fosu, why this shock?” he wrote, calling Daddy Lumba by his birth name, Charles Kojo Fosu. “Hmmm, you have indeed done what the creator brought you on earth to do; you will forever inspire generations.”

Nana Acheampong described Daddy Lumba not only as a legend, but as a brother whose death has left his own family grieving.

“My family and I are in pain. To the family of my beloved brother, may God hold you tight in this moment,” he added in his tribute to the Fosu family.

Their partnership, known as the Lumba Brothers, left an unforgettable imprint on Ghana’s highlife scene in the late 1980s and 1990s. Their 1989 album ‘Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu’ remains a cornerstone of the genre, earning them legendary status.

News of Daddy Lumba’s death sent shockwaves across the country, triggering a wave of mourning from fans, musicians, and industry stakeholders alike.
