Operatives of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have taken a senior manager of a manufacturing company into custody for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Ghana.

The incident has ignited widespread speculation on social media, with some reports suggesting that the Chief Executive Officer of Kivo—a well-known Ghanaian packaged food brand—had been arrested in relation to the suspected drug trafficking plot.

Contrary to these claims, available information confirms that the detained individual is not the CEO of Kivo.

The clarification comes after broadcaster Saddick Adams (@SaddickAdams) posted on X (formerly Twitter) that a manager of a “hugely popular Ghanaian packaged food brand” had been remanded for allegedly trying to traffic cocaine abroad.

Citing comments made by the Deputy Director of NACOC on Angel TV, the post indicated that the suspect had concealed substances believed to be cocaine within the company’s products and was intercepted at the airport prior to boarding an international flight.

“A manager of a ‘hugely popular Ghanaian packaged food brand’ has been remanded in custody for allegedly attempting to traffic cocaine out of Ghana,” the post stated.

NACOC has confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the case and to determine whether any other individuals may be involved.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while the matter remains under investigation.
