Media personality MzGee has fired back at critics who continue to question her decision to have a child outside marriage, declaring that no one has the authority to play God over her life.
Speaking on her Gee O’clock show, the broadcaster, who divorced several years ago, recounted the pressure she has faced from society regarding marriage and motherhood.
“As a young lady growing up, the prayer was always to get married, have children, and live happily ever after. But life had a different plan for me,” she said, reflecting on her failed marriage and years of waiting without a child.
MzGee explained that after her divorce, she was constantly reminded of her “ticking biological clock” and pressured to find another partner before it was “too late.” At 38, with no partner in sight, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
That decision sparked backlash after she announced the arrival of her son on January 13, 2025, with critics accusing her of “going against God’s order.”
Responding to such comments, MzGee retorted, “Who made you God over us? Why do you use God to judge women like me? God is merciful, not you. I will thank God for my child any day.”
She also took aim at what she described as double standards faced by women, particularly public figures, who are often shamed for choices men make without consequence.
“When men have children outside wedlock, society looks away. But when women do it, suddenly everyone is a judge. Even women join the chorus against us. We are tired,” she stated.

MzGee urged society, especially women, to stop policing others’ personal lives and instead show empathy.
“If you know what divorce feels like, or what it means to wait endlessly for a marriage that never comes, you will not cast stones. Don’t shame us, pray for us. At my age, I know what I am doing. This is my life and my choice.”
Despite the criticism, the broadcaster expressed joy and fulfilment in her new role as a mother.
“I’ve got my son, and I’m happy. God has been merciful to me.”
