Ghanaian media personality and failed Guinness World Record contender Afua Asantewaa has responded to speculations linking her recent weight loss to the ongoing controversies surrounding her.
In a post shared on her Tiktok handle, Asantewaa clarified that her transformation is the result of her efforts to regain her shape after childbirth, not the stress from recent public scrutiny.
She shared, “I posted a picture yesterday about my weight loss, and it’s quite interesting how people were like, ‘Oh, this brouhaha that is going on has caused her to lose weight.’
“No, it’s not about that. Those who know me know that after having my beautiful three girls, I have been working so hard,” she said.
Asantewaa said she preferred natural weight loss methods over medicinal or surgical procedures, stating, “I always say that I’m the type that is scared of injections and surgery stuff. So, this BBL thing is not my thing. I rather prefer losing weight the right way.”
She revealed that she has been religiously working on her fitness since November of last year, successfully moving from a size 14 to a size 12, with her sights set on a size 10.
Addressing the rumours, she added, “I know what weight loss does for me, and so it’s not about any brouhaha.”
She also expressed gratitude for the support of her family, particularly her mother, who has helped her stay grounded during these challenging times.
Asantewaa assured her followers that she would address the controversies at the appropriate time, stating, “At the right time, this will be addressed.”
Afua Asantewaa has been under fire following comments she made over financial support she received during her 2023 Guinness World Record sing-a-thon attempt.
Asantewaa initially denied receiving government support, stating that she only received sore throat medicine after her attempt.
However, after being called out, she clarified receiving GH₵10,000 from Vice President Dr. Bawumia as a personal donation.
