Ghanaian actor Harold Amenyah has opened up on the strict measures he took to maintain privacy at his wedding.
Speaking during a cooking show on UTV on April 13, 2025, Harold revealed that he intentionally kept his wedding intimate, inviting only his closest family and friends and excluding everyone from the entertainment industry.
“My wedding was very private, no phones were allowed. It was boldly written at the entrance,” he said. “The first picture that started trending that day was taken by a guest who was clearly told phones weren’t allowed. But they still decided to take pictures and videos,” he stated.
Harold emphasised that no bloggers were invited and the event was strictly limited to just 100 guests.
“The event was for just 100 people, including family, so you can imagine how small and intimate it was. If I had known a picture would be leaked and we’d end up trending, I would have invited everyone,” he added with a hint of humour.
Regarding the photo of his wife that circulated online, Harold disclosed that he still doesn’t know who leaked it.
“We’ve still not found the person who leaked the picture. I suspect the person just wanted to prove they were there and probably posted it on WhatsApp. I think it trended more because the wedding was private people were curious,” he stated
When asked why they opted for such a private event, Harold explained that it was actually his wife’s choice.
“It was my wife’s decision to make the wedding private. She didn’t fully realize the kind of pressure that comes with marrying a public figure. The controversy surrounding the wedding made her understand the magnitude of what she’s stepping into,” he added.
The actor also shared a bit about their relationship timeline.
He said he had been single for three years before meeting his wife, and exactly one year after they met, they tied the knot on the anniversary of the day they met.
“I met my wife a year before we got married. We got married on the same date we met. Some people questioned why we chose April 1, April Fool’s Day, but that was our anniversary. Before that, I had been single for about three years,” he stated.
Harold also addressed how the leak disrupted their plans.
“My wife’s picture started trending around 3 p.m., just after the ceremony. We hadn’t even released any official photos yet. We had to quickly call our photographer to release the pictures for damage control. Since phones weren’t allowed, whoever took that photo must’ve done it secretly, so of course, it wasn’t the best quality. But in the end, I believe everything that happened was meant to happen,” he concluded.
