A video has gone viral in which a Germany-based Ghanaian woman has recounted how her life story inspired one of Daddy Lumba’s popular songs.

In the video, shared by Zionfelix on August 20, 2025, the woman, identified as Theresa Manu, revealed that the song was inspired by a statement made by her late grandmother.

Theresa Manu explained that her grandmother, Maame Dufie, lost one of her sons while she was alive, which led her to express a solemn wish, that her children would bury her, not the other way around.

‘Makra Mo’ Twice: Did Daddy Lumba predict his own death?

According to Theresa, Daddy Lumba drew inspiration from that statement, interpreting it as a mother’s final farewell to her children.

“I told (Lumba) what my grandmother said when she lost my father. My grandmother, whose name was Maame Dufie, noted that she wanted my father to bury her, but she is the one who is burying my late father. After saying that, all Lumba said was that Maame Dufie is also saying her final goodbye.

“So he asked the names of my mother, and siblings… I then told him my mother’s name is Ama Afrakomaa, and my sisters are Akua Afriyie and Hellena Manu. After telling him the whole story, he called to inform me one day that he had composed a song for me titled Makra Mo,” She spoke during a candlelight vigil held in Hamburg, Germany, in honour of the late musician.

Theresa also narrated how the late Daddy Lumba, in November 1993, gave her the first copy of the recorded “Makra Mo” song.

“In November 1993, my grandmother, Maame Dufie, passed on after Lumba had done the song in her name. That was when Lumba was also launching the song. So he gave me the first copy of the recorded song.

“He asked me not to give it to anybody because if another person gets hold of it, he won’t be able to gain revenue from it. Up to now, I still have a copy of the recorded tape,” she added.

Meanwhile, checks reveal that Daddy Lumba’s 1992 ‘Makra Mo’ song mentions Theresa Manu as one of the individuals referenced in the lyrics.
