Acting Executive Secretary of the Ghana Creative Arts Agency, Gideon Ayeequaye, has stated that there is currently no money in the coffers of the agency.

He explained that his predecessor did not operate an official account for managing the agency’s finances; instead, all funds were channelled through a private account.

Elaborating on his point after being asked about the agency’s financial standing, he added, “It is for this reason that she (the predecessor) was even able to empty the office when leaving, claiming she bought all the furniture with her money because there’s nothing to prove otherwise.”

However, he disclosed that he is actively working to correct these issues.

He stated that he and his team have hired a professional accountant to manage the agency’s financial operations.

Gideon also announced that every enterprise under the Creative Arts Agency will be officially registered and licensed. This, he said, will be done systematically to ensure that all appropriate fees are collected.

“That will give us enough internally generated funds (IGF) to take care of essential needs before relying on the Creative Arts Fund,” he added.

Gideon Ayeequaye took over from Gyankroma Akufo-Addo after being appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.
