NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo

Parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of vote-buying in light of their impending defeat.

In an interview with Rainbowradioonline.com, John Dumelo stated that the incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan has failed to fulfill her duties as the area’s MP.

He accuses her of engaging in vote buying after deceiving the constituents for years.

“The NPP is distributing money and purchasing votes. I don’t think that’s the best approach to progress. You cannot wait and deny the people growth, then when elections come around, share GHC 500, GHC 1,000, rice, and gari so you may be MP for another four years. It does not operate that way. It is shameful to do so. Economic suffering is real, and you must alter the lives of the people in your constituency.

“I am championing security, sanitation, and job opportunities for unemployed youth. The constituency is home to the headquarters of the majority of state institutions, including the TOR, Standards Board, FDA, Ghana Gas, and Forestry Commission, among others. Why is there such a high rate of unemployment in the constituency when jobs are closer to the youth? That is what we are going to break. We are coming to provide employment for the youth and make Ayawaso West Wuogon more comfortable and economically viable. I am also advocating for housing for university students in the constituency.”

According to the actor, farmer, and entrepreneur, his opponent is going around sharing rice, money, and other items with the aim of winning the elections.

The candidate stated that over the past seven years, he has built a constant and strong relationship with his constituents, who pledged to vote massively for him.

“The NDC has never repeated a candidate in Ayawaso West Wuogon. Over the past seven years, I have built a constant relationship with the constituents. The 24 years of NPP in the constituency are enough. The constituents should try me and see what I can do for them,” he stated.

He admitted that it was not going to be an easy election, but the NDC will win the polls massively, and he will be declared the MP for the area.

“It is not going to be easy. The NDC is going to win the elections. If elections were held tomorrow, the NDC would win in Ayawaso West Wuogon with a wide margin. It is not going to be easy, and we know it is going to be, but we will win.”

He underscored the need for Ghanaians to vote massively for the NDC because the party has policies that will transform their lives.
