    Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, has addressed the controversy surrounding his use of the word “Historic” in a social media post celebrating his BHIM Concert, just hours after Sarkodie‘s Rapperholic concert.

    In an recent interview with blogger Mr. Elmi on YouTube, he explained that the comment was not meant to spite anyone, but simply to celebrate what he regarded as a landmark moment for himself.

    “When I made that post, it was with a clean heart. A fan of mine had made a post of my BHIM concert video with lyrics of my new song. I noticed it and was proud of the show, so I quoted it with Historic. Because that show itself was historic.

    “So when people started attacking me, I didn’t understand. I was like, ‘What did I say?’ It wasn’t a jab or an attack at anyone. I was simply celebrating my own success,” he said.

    Stonebwoy’s ‘historic’ comment draws online reactions after Sarkodie‘s concert

    Stonebwoy said he was taken aback by the backlash that followed his post, emphasising that he had no intention of undermining Sarkodie’s concert or any other event.

    He noted that, before the now-infamous post, he had already encouraged fans to go support Sarkodie’s show, describing it also as historic.

    “Even before Sarkodie’s show, I had even posted that people should go and support it. That it would be historic. So there wasn’t any ill feeling,” he said.

    The narrative that he was trying to compare himself or throw shade, he argued, was a projection of others’ agendas, not his intention.

    Stonebwoy’s clarifications come against a backdrop of public debate around his “Historic” post, which drew both criticism and defense across social media platforms.
