Former Mustapha Yakubu has mutually parted ways with Azerbaijani club Sabail FK after a short spell with the side.

The ex-Heart of Lions forward recently returned to Ghana after sustaining an injury during a league match, which sidelined him for weeks and affected his involvement with the team. Club sources indicate the decision to terminate the contract was reached amicably, allowing both parties to move forward.

Yakubu, who has previously featured for Ghana’s U20 team and the Black Galaxies, is now focused on recovery and regaining full fitness. His experience in domestic and international competitions is expected to attract interest from clubs within the Ghana Premier League and beyond.

Sabail FK currently compete in the Azerbaijan Premier League, where they have struggled for consistency this season, making squad adjustments amid ongoing campaign challenges.

Yakubu is expected to assess his options in the coming weeks as he plans the next step in his career.
