The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has congratulated John Dramani Mahama on his election as President of Ghana.

In a statement issued by MUSIGA’s President, Bessa Simons, the Union expressed optimism about the opportunities this leadership transition presents for the creative arts sector and the nation’s cultural heritage.

“This significant victory marks a new chapter for our nation, and we are excited about the potential it holds for the creative arts sector and cultural heritage,” the statement read.

MUSIGA pledged its full support for the incoming administration’s Black Star Experience initiative. This program aims to position Ghana as a global cultural hub through a series of activities, including film festivals, culinary showcases, and fashion events. The Union emphasized the vital role of culture and creative arts in national development and highlighted the need for robust policies to maximize their impact.

    Commending Dr. Bawumia’s statesmanship

The Union also commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the main contender in the presidential election, for his gracious concession. According to MUSIGA, his acceptance of the electoral outcome helped to ease tensions and promote national unity.

“Such leadership is commendable and sets a positive tone for collaboration across political divides as we work together for the betterment of Ghana,” the statement noted.

    Collaboration for growth

MUSIGA reiterated its commitment to working closely with President-elect Mahama’s administration to ensure that the creative arts sector thrives. The Union believes that with the right policies and partnerships, Ghana’s rich cultural heritage can contribute significantly to national identity and economic growth.

“In conclusion, we look forward to working closely with President Mahama’s administration to elevate Ghana’s cultural narrative on the global stage,” the statement concluded.

As stakeholders in Ghana’s creative ecosystem, MUSIGA’s call to action underscores the sector’s role in driving economic development and promoting the nation’s unique identity worldwide.
