Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has revealed why he has decided to focus fully on his music career instead of furthering his education at the moment.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 22, 2025, the `Sore’ hitmaker shared that although education is important, his music career is currently his main source of income and demands his full attention.

“I feel you can go to school anytime that you want, but now that I’m in this business, this is what’s actually putting food on my table. I can’t have any divided attention at the moment.

“It’s the music part that you guys know me for. I’m that person who doesn’t like sharing my personal things, now I’m doing a whole lot that people don’t know about because I don’t talk about them,” he said.

It’s not easy to be an independent artiste – Yaw Tog

The young rapper also touched on the importance of financial independence, noting that young people should be allowed to pursue both education and income-generating activities.

“When you have financial freedom, it’s a different type of feeling, especially waking up and knowing you don’t need to stress to get money. Everyone needs money, so I don’t know why I can’t also make money,” he stated.

He continued, “In the other part of the world, people go to school and work part-time. I don’t know why African parents can’t also support that. We can go to school and also make money because we can’t depend on our parents all the time.”

Yaw Tog further mentioned that he is aware many young people look up to him and encouraged them to stay true to themselves.

“I think some Gen-Zs are looking up to me. It’s good to have people looking up to you because it’s not easy, and I’m proud of myself. They should also be themselves and focus on whatever they want to do,” he added.
