Ghanaian artiste Kojo Blak has described music as a deeply spiritual experience, one that can only be interpreted by the soul.
In an interview on Showbiz360 with Giovani Caleb on April 29, 2025, Kojo Blak explained the unique inspiration behind his music and the meaning of the numbers tied to his projects.
“757 and 131, ‘131’ is the title of my current EP. You know, numbers play a very spiritual role in my life. Music itself is spiritual, something you can’t touch but you can feel. It’s something only your spirit can transcribe. The last song I recorded for my 757 EP was done exactly at 7:57 PM. I’ve been documenting those moments and following that path ever since,” he said.
He added, “Everyone releases EPs and names them things like Love or Heartbreak, but I like to be different, I choose names that reflect my spiritual journey.”
Kojo Blak also spoke about his current EP, 131, which has nine tracks and collaborations with several notable artists.
“131 has nine songs. It includes my ‘ruling three’, a concept I use to talk about key stages in my journey as an artist. The EP features Joshua Baraka from Uganda, Kelvyn Boy on Excellence, and Sarkodie on Next Door. I even recorded 131 at 1:31 PM. If I record my next at 2:00, it’ll be titled 2 O’Clock,” he revealed.
Speaking on the hit track ‘Excellence’, he explained the inspiration behind the song:
“The day I recorded Excellence, there were beautiful ladies around. I’m a ladies’ man, so I made the song to celebrate every Ghanaian and African woman who looks excellent, regardless of body type, whether slim or plus-size. It’s a song for women empowerment. But I’ve also got songs for the men, gangster vibes, so there’s something for everyone on the EP,” he said.
