A respected police officer and beloved father-of-two has died at the age of 41 following a years-long battle with bowel cancer.

Morgan Spruce, who is survived by his wife and sons, died on April 19.

‘He was in class 331 (and) I believe he served at Tuggerah Lakes,’ a member of the Facebook page NSW Fallen Police wrote on Tuesday.

‘He passed after a battle with bowel cancer.

‘He is survived by his wife Emma and sons Darcy and Harvey.’

Group members shared their condolences and memories of Mr Spruce.

‘RIP Morgan. You were a genuine bloke,’ one person wrote.

‘We knew something was funny when you reacted with that singular chuckle.’

Morgan Spruce, a police officer and father of two, has died after battling bowel cancer

A third member suggested the family could receive assistance from NSW Police Legacy, but the initial commenter said Mr Spruce had resigned before his death.

‘(He) didn’t die on the job or be medically retired, his family don’t qualify,’ they said.

‘They were still amazing and gave a great list of resources the family can access for grief support. He had a good few years with his family since leaving.’

A GoFundMe for the Spruce family was launched by friend Alex White on April 10.

‘Following the devastating news of Morgan’s cancer diagnosis I have set up this (page) as a central point for all of the different communities and supports in Morgan and Emma’s lives to be able to share their love and support,’ the description read.

‘The funds will help this beautiful family including Morgan and Emma’s two young son’s Darcy and Harvey now and into the future.

‘Thanks everyone for your kindness and generosity.’

The campaign has so far raised $8,835 at the time of writing.
