Riders have been left stuck after a rollercoaster at a Gold Coast theme park stopped mid-ride.
The incident occurred at Warner Bros. Movie World after the DC Rivals HyperCoaster suddenly came to a standstill and left terrified passengers 10 metres above the ground.
Crews worked to resolve the issue in hot conditions and a Village Roadshow Theme Parks spokesman said all riders were safe.
‘We currently have a ride stoppage on DC Rivals HyperCoaster. All guests are safe and we are currently exiting them from the safe stop zones,’ the spokesman said.
‘At all times throughout the stoppage, the guests on board were safe and our team were in constant communication with them.
‘The safety and wellbeing of our guests is our highest priority and ride stoppages are proof rides systems and operators are doing as they are designed and trained to do to keep our guests safe.’
Video shared to Facebook showed the train stopped on a steep incline just before it was due to go over a near-vertical drop.
It is not known how many people were on board or what caused the ride to stop.
