Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has stated that some leaders in the country have failed to recognise the positive economic impact the creative arts industry has on Ghana’s economy.

He made this statement while expressing disappointment in the lack of infrastructure within the country’s creative arts industry, adding that there is a need to liaise with the private sector to bring such projects to fruition.

“We have leaders in this country who do not understand the importance of the creative arts industry. There have been ministers who come and go, yet we continue to wait for the government to take the initiative. Meanwhile, we have investors who are eager to invest in such projects,” he added.

Kwaku Manu further explained that if the government gives more attention to the creative arts sector, it could generate huge revenue for the country.

“The same creative arts that are not given the recognition they deserve attracted many people to the country through the Year of Return policy. If we also focus on our tourist sites, it will draw tourists and generate revenue for the country. But, the leaders have neglected all of this,” he stated.

He added, “A white man usually sell ideologies through movies and social media, and you are aware of that.”
