The friendly women’s competition FIFA Unites 2025 will take place in Morocco starting from October 26, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced.

The opening matches of the tournament will kick off on Sunday, October 26.

The competition will mark the first-ever international appearance of the Afghan refugee women’s team, while the Libyan and Chadian teams are expected to enter the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking following the event, the statement added.

FIFA expressed its gratitude to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and welcomed the collaboration to ensure the success of the tournament.

The statement also noted that FIFA seeks to reaffirm its ongoing commitment to implementing its Action Strategy for Afghan Women’s Football, which was approved by the FIFA Council in May 2025.

This strategy includes the organization of the competition as well as continuous support for Afghan players throughout the selection and preparation process.

The statement further explained that the official name of the team, “Afghan Women United”, was chosen by the players themselves after consultations with FIFA.

Further information on the FIFA Unites 2025 women’s friendly competition, including the detailed match schedule, will soon be available on FIFA.com.
