Fresh controversy has erupted over the funeral of Ghanaian Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, during a court session.

On Friday, November 21, 2025, the late musician’s family appeared before a Kumasi High Court with regards to the suit filed by his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, against his longtime mistress, who is also alleged to be his second wife, Odo Broni.

Currently, what is known is that Akosua Serwaa is asking the court to declare her the sole widow with full authority over the burial arrangements, among other reliefs.

Beyond the legal battle between the two women, the late singer’s Abusuapanyin, Kofi Owusu, has also been hit with allegations of misconduct, including allegedly withdrawing GH¢30,000 from Lumba’s burial contributions to cover hotel expenses during his stay in Accra.

In the wake of all these issues, and with that particular bothers on the Abusuapanyin, a youth group from Parkoso caused some stir when they stormed the court premises during the proceedings on Friday to demand that he, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu step aside entirely from the funeral preparations.

A spokesperson for the group who is reportedly called Yaw Obese, accused him of dragging the late icon’s name and their community into disrepute.

“We are from Parkoso, and we are here not to fight but to tell Abusuapanyin to remove himself from Lumba’s burial preparations and ensure the legend is buried at Parkoso, where he comes from.
What Abusuapanyin is doing is tarnishing the image of the community. We have also heard him say there is no land to give Lumba a resting place, so we don’t see why he should be involved,” he is recorded saying.

This new incident appears to be another hurdle in the growing list of challenges surrounding preparations for Daddy Lumba’s funeral, which has already been rescheduled to December 13, 2025 after the original date was changed.

This latest confusion has intensified public calls for the funeral to be postponed to next year, so that there will be adequate time to prepare to give the legendary musician the befitting and dignified farewell he deserves.
