    “Monster” Inoue Named Japan‘s Boxer Of The Year Again

    Undisputed world super bantamweight champion “Monster” Naoya Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) was named Boxer of the Year for the ninth time by JBC (Japan Boxing Commission) and the boxing section of Tokyo Writers Club yesterday (Tuesday) in Tokyo, Japan.

    Other award recipients were as follows:

    Technique award: WBC bantam titleholder Takuma Inoue, the younger brother of Naoya, and formerly three-division champ Junto Nakatani, who is supposed to face Naoya in quest of his undisputed belts this coming May.

    Valuable victory: WBA bantam ruler Seiya Tsutsumi.

    Efforts: ex-WBO AP bantam titlist Tomoya Tsuboi.

    Knockout award: IBF fly kingpin Masamichi Yabuki.

    Rookie citation: former WBA light fly ruler Kyosuke Takami.

    Female Boxer of the Year: Mizuki Hiruta.

    Fight of the Year: WBC. WBA flyweight unification bout between Kenshiro Teraji and Seigo Yuri Akui.

    Trainer of the Year: Shingo Inoue, the father of Naoya and Takuma.

    Naoya Inoue, who scored four successful defenses last year to his credit, said on the platform, “I’ll fight Junto Nakatani at Tokyo Dome in May. That’s our promise to all boxing fans, which will be realized soon.” We cannot wait for the historically biggest super fight here for three months.
