The underdog is on top! Monster Energy congratulates MMA athlete Jasmine Jasudavicius on defeating Erin Blanchfield at the UFC Fight Night in Edmonton, Canada, on Saturday night. In the co-main event in the Women’s Flyweight division, the 37-year-old from St. Catharines, Canada, overcame the biggest challenge of her career, earning a unanimous decision victory after dominating her opponent for three rounds.

UFC Fight Night: Buckley vs. Malott was contested in front of a live crowd of 16,903 spectators inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada. With six fights on the Main Card and seven Prelims matchups, UFC Fight Night 291 aired live on Paramount+.

In Saturday night’s co-main event, Monster Energy’s Jasudavicius (16-4) stepped into the Octagon as the betting underdog, looking to pull off a career-defining upset against a top-ranked contender. Fighting on home soil in Canada, Jasudavicius arrived at UFC Edmonton riding high on a unanimous decision victory over Karine Silva at a UFC Fight Night in April 2026.

Jasudavicius’ opponent, American MMA fighter Blanchfield (14-3), stepped into the Octagon as the #3-ranked UFC Women’s Flyweight contender and was on a two-fight winning streak. Most recently, the jiu-jitsu expert earned a dominant second-round submission win over Tracy Cortez at UFC 322 in November 2025. Blanchfield had originally been set to face Jasudavicius at UFC 330 in August but withdrew due to injury, setting up the much-anticipated rescheduled bout on Saturday night.

The fight opened with both athletes exchanging strikes and finding their range, Blanchfield shooting jabs and Jasudavicius landing precise counters. But the fight’s energy shifted when Jasudavicius ducked a punch and took her opponent to the canvas. Immediately securing Blanchfield’s back, she worked to lock in a rear-naked choke while asserting her dominance with punches.

When Blanchfield struggled to her feet, Jasudavicius immediately brought her back to the ground with a brutal body slam and stayed in control for the rest of the opening round.

In the second round, Blanchfield turned up the pressure with aggressive kicks and a takedown attempt, but Jasudavicius defended and fired back with a precise right hand. Moments later, Jasudavicius landed a single-leg takedown once again to lock Blanchfield in a body triangle. After testing her opponent’s submission defense for the majority of the round, Jasudavicius closed out the second frame with heavy ground-and-pound until the bell.

The final round opened with Blanchfield looking for a knockout finish as the only shot at turning the tide. Jasudavicius stood her ground as the American pursued with heavy strikes and combos, landing counters and clean jabs of her own. Ultimately, Jasudavicius brought the fight to the mat and spent the final minutes working her opponent’s back in search of a submission finish.

When the final bell rang, the result was clear. After dominating Blanchfield for three rounds on the strength of her superior grappling, Jasudavicius earned the victory by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

“It was great for me to get in there and prove how great of a grappler I am,” said Monster Energy’s Jasudavicius after winning the Co-Main event fight at UFC Fight Night Edmonton, adding: “It puts me in a good position; the division is really open. I’m here for a purpose. I’m trying to become the best in the world.”

After defeating Blanchfield, Jasudavicius immediately called for a title match against champion Natalia Silva for the UFC Women’s Flyweight belt. “I feel unbelievable. I want to cross paths with Natalia Silva again. We have a history.” Stay tuned as Jasudavicius continues her rise through UFC rankings!
