This is the moment a courageous elderly dog walker stepped in and helped officers arrest a suspect following a high speed chase through a sleepy residential area.

Bodycam footage shows police officers racing on foot after a man following a high speed car chase in the streets of Doncaster on March 8.

Police were close on the tail of a Kia after it raced through 30mph zones at speeds of 88mph, before eventually crashing.

Bodycam footage shows all three occupants then making a run for it, while cops chase one man on foot down an alleyway.

During the dramatic on-foot pursuit, the gap between the 23-year-old and police started to significantly grow.

But luckily, a valiant dog walker stepped out in front of the man allowing police officers to make up crucial time and to bring the individual to justice.

Dramatic footage shows police apprehending the suspect only seconds after the anonymous hero’s efforts.

One officer brings out his tazer as he orders the individual not to move as he is arrested whilst laying flat on the ground.

PC Sam Duddington, who arrested the man following the woman’s intervention, said: ‘This anonymous hero was just out walking her dog, but sensed what was happening and tried to help us by bravely stepping out in front of the suspect.

‘This slowed him down enough to allow myself and PC Luke O’Donnell to catch up with the suspect and arrest him.

‘I really do want to thank her as she was incredibly brave and her quick-thinking really did give us the chance to gain ground and make that arrest.

‘As police officers, we really do value the public’s co-operation and assistance, and knowing we have the support of our communities is a brilliant feeling.’

All three occupants were detained after fleeing the scene.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without insurance. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
