Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter, Moliy, has opened up about her decision to remain an independent artiste, citing creative freedom and trust as the driving forces behind her choice.

In a recent interview with Revolt T, the Shake It to the Max hitmaker revealed that she had always been cautious about signing to a record label, preferring to carve out her path in the music industry.

“Yeah. I’ve always been kind of hesitant to be a label artist because I’ve just heard so many stories,” Moliy said. “I always feel like the people I work with, I want to trust them. I want it to feel organic. I don’t just wanna be a name on a list. Music is very personal to me.”

Moliy, whose unique blend of Afro-fusion, R&B, and pop has earned her growing acclaim both locally and internationally, noted that staying independent has allowed her to remain true to her sound and vision.

Her independent journey has not gone unnoticed. With global features, streaming success, and a fast-growing fan base, Moliy has proven that artists can thrive without the backing of a major label—if they’re willing to bet on themselves.
