Mohammed Salisu, AS Monaco defender

Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has paid tribute to AS Monaco head coach Adi Hütter.

Salisu sustained an injury during Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, causing him to miss six games for the French side.

However, he made his return in Monaco’s 3-2 win against Brest on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Now, back in the starting eleven, despite Monaco’s 2-1 loss to Marseille on Sunday, December 1, 2024, the former Southampton defender has praised his coach’s guidance.

According to Salisu, Hütter reminds him of his former Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhüttl, as he highlighted Monaco’s progress under Hütter’s leadership.

“He is similar to one of my former coaches in England, Ralph Hasenhüttl. He has the same philosophy of play based on high pressing, a style that I particularly like and that corresponds to mine.

“I feel like we have progressed a lot between last season and this one. So I would say that he is one of the best coaches I have worked under in my career,” Salisu said.

Monaco currently sits third in the Ligue 1 standings and will face Toulouse on Saturday, December 7, 2024, aiming to climb higher in the table.
