Ghanaian attacker Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini has expressed his excitement after scoring a crucial goal to help Union Saint-Gilloise defeat RSC Anderlecht 3-1 in the Belgian Cup final at the Stade Roi Baudouin.

The Ghanaian forward came off the bench in the 85th minute to replace Anouar Ait El Hadj and made an instant impact by scoring five minutes into extra time to restore Union Saint-Gilloise’s lead.

The final had earlier produced plenty of drama after Kevin Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 74th minute before Serbian striker Mihajlo Cvetkovic equalised six minutes later to send the game into extra time. Kevin Rodriguez later added the third goal to seal victory for the Apaches.

Following the triumph, Fuseini admitted he initially felt disappointed after starting from the bench but remained determined to make an impact once introduced.

“It was an amazing feeling. I was a bit disappointed for the time I came in. But then I just had to give my best to the team. And then I was able to have a goal to help the team win the Croky Cup,” he said.

The goal means the 23-year-old has now scored in back-to-back matches after also finding the net against KV Mechelen in Union Saint-Gilloise’s previous league game.

The victory also handed Union Saint-Gilloise their fourth Belgian Cup title after previous successes in 1913, 1914 and 2024.
