Mohammed Salah, forward for Liverpool

TalkSPORT’s European correspondent, Andy Brassell, has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Mohamed Salah are in talks over a potential free transfer next summer.

Brassell explained that although PSG has publicly denied the rumors, discussions between the parties have been ongoing for some time, and Salah has now reportedly given them the green light.

Salah has just six months remaining on his current contract with Liverpool. With the Egyptian star revealing that there have been no negotiations with the 19-time Premier League winners, the Reds risk losing the Premier League and Champions League winner for free.

After Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Southampton in November, Salah admitted in a rare interview that he was “more out than in” when it came to contract talks with Liverpool.

Brassell believes this situation could pave the way for Salah to leave England for France.

“Of course, he could officially sign for PSG if he wanted to from January 1. It’s not a long time away now. Publicly, PSG’s position is, ‘we’re happy we moved past the superstar era.’

“If they get an opportunity to sign Mohamed Salah, there is no way they are turning it down. There is absolutely no way they are turning it down.

“Now, whether Mohamed Salah wants this news to leak so he can put a bit of pressure on Liverpool, that would not surprise me.”

Salah will be 33 years old when his current deal expires at the end of the 2024/25 season. However, that hasn’t stopped clubs from pursuing his signature, as he has also been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
