Hajia Fatahia Abdul-Aziz is the Member of Parliament for Savelugu

The Minority in Parliament has called for the immediate reinstatement of nearly 100 staff whose appointments were recently terminated.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahia Abdul-Aziz, described the dismissals as a violation of Ghana’s labour laws and an affront to the rights of the affected employees.

She argued that the terminations were carried out without proper justification and, therefore, cannot stand.

“The Bank of Ghana must restore every single dismissed worker to their rightful position without any further delay. Their appointments were lawful; their dismissals were not,” Hajia Abdul-Aziz asserted.

She further demanded accountability from the leadership of the Central Bank, insisting that the Governor must appear before Parliament to justify the actions taken against the workers.

“The Governor of the Bank of Ghana must face Parliament and explain this heartless abuse of power. You are not above the law, and you must answer to the people,” she added.

The Minority Caucus has hinted at further action should the dismissed employees not be reinstated in due course, describing the Bank’s actions as unjust, unacceptable, and inhumane.

The Bank of Ghana has terminated the appointments of more than 100 employees who were recruited in 2024, citing probation-related contractual provisions as the basis for the dismissals.
