The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of its 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region following a temporary suspension last week. The exercise is scheduled to restart on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

A statement signed by the Acting Director General of Public Relations of the GAF, Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, explained that the reinstated process will take place across eight sub-centres located within five key facilities. These include the El-Wak Stadium and the Nicholson Park, Burma Camp, which will have two centres each respectively.

The Air Force Base at Burma Camp and the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Teshie will also have two centres each, while the Eastern Naval Command in Tema will have one centre.

To ensure smooth screening and reduce congestion, qualified applicants will appear in batches of 600, with each individual receiving an SMS detailing their reporting date, batch number, and assigned centre. Applicants are urged to check the GAF recruitment portal regularly for updates.

Any applicant who does not receive a text message by November 20 is advised to contact the helpline on 0256405104 or send a WhatsApp message to 0256405154 for assistance. The public is also cautioned that friends and relatives should not accompany potential recruits, as non-applicants will not be granted entry.

Meanwhile, the Board of Inquiry tasked to investigate the circumstances that led to last week’s stampede is continuing its work. To ensure transparency, the entire Greater Accra Recruitment Team has been replaced pending the outcome of the investigations.

The new leadership overseeing the exercise includes Commodore F.A. Nyarko, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko, and Colonel G.B. Eduah, appointed as Director General Human Resource, Director Manpower, and Director Information Technology respectively.

The GAF expressed regret over the unfortunate incident, extending deepest sympathies to families who lost loved ones and wishing the injured a speedy recovery. The Armed Forces assured the public that all affected persons would continue to receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until full recovery, with a special recruitment package available for the injured and bereaved families.

GAF has called on the general public for cooperation as the recruitment process resumes.
