Executives of Gold Fields’ Ghana met with their counterparts at the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) on Thursday, December 18, 2025, to discuss the company’s operations, potential investment opportunities for the Fund, and areas of collaboration.

The discussions highlighted the critical role of Gold Fields’ investments in Ghana, which account for 31% of the company’s global production.

The delegation from Gold Fields’ Ghana Ltd was led by Elliot Twum, Senior Vice President and Managing Director; Emma Morrison, Regional Head of Corporate Affairs; and William Empeh, Head of Human Resources.

The MIIF delegation was led by Kwabena Barning, Chief Technical Officer, along with other senior management members.

Among the key issues discussed, Twum, in his presentation, emphasised the pillars underpinning Gold Fields’ strong track record of operational success, which he said would continue to drive the company’s contributions going forward.

He noted that the key success factors include the presence of an experienced technical and management team, robust organisational governance, a strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) footprint, which he elaborated on during the discussion, the country’s significant resource potential, and Gold Fields’ operations within a tier-one mining jurisdiction.

“Collectively, these elements reflect our unwavering commitment to sustaining operations and advancing asset development in Ghana,” he added.

Speaking further on ESG, Twum highlighted the company’s establishment of Ghana’s first mine foundation, the construction of a US$27 million, 33-kilometre asphalted Tarkwa-Damang road, the US$13 million, 10,000-capacity stadium, and the rehabilitation of tailings storage facilities into productive farmland.

He noted that these initiatives earned the company the “Best Green Mine” and “Best Performer in Environmental Management” awards in 2024.

The MIIF team expressed appreciation to Gold Fields for the engagement and emphasised the Fund’s keen interest in exploring future collaboration through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and other areas of mutual benefit.
