Arsenal’s teenage sensation, Michelle Agyemang has been crowned as the 2025 European Golden Girl.

The prestigious award, created by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, recognises the most outstanding young female footballer across Europe and is decided by a panel of respected journalists and football legends.

At just 19 years old, Agyemang becomes the first English player ever to claim the honour.

Agyemang’s rise has been nothing short of spectacular. Spending the 2024/25 season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, she quickly made her mark in the Women’s Super League, scoring five goals in 22 appearances and earning plaudits for her composure, speed, and fearless attacking play.

But it was on the international stage that she truly shone. Agyemang burst onto the scene with a goal just 41 seconds into her England debut in the UEFA Nations League against Belgium, a moment that set the tone for a thrilling breakthrough year.

Her performances convinced Sarina Wiegman to include her in the Euro 2025 squad, where she repaid that faith in dramatic fashion.

The young forward became England’s ultimate super-sub, scoring crucial late goals in the knockout stages as the Lionesses stormed to a second successive European title.

Agyemang struck an 81st-minute equaliser against Sweden in the quarter-finals to force extra time, before writing another chapter in her fairytale run with a stoppage-time goal against Italy in the semi-finals.

She finished the tournament with two goals in four appearances and was named Young Player of the Tournament for her impact and maturity beyond her years.

The Golden Girl award cements her status as one of the most exciting young players in world football.

Unfortunately, Agyemang’s incredible momentum has been halted by a serious ACL injury that will sideline her for the entire 2025/26 season.
