As a musician, international recognition, especially from a globally respected figure, is a great honour, as it rarely happens.

Such acknowledgment can significantly elevate both the artiste and the country they represent on the global stage.

While fans are quick to recall acts like Tems, Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, Ghanaian artistes have also made their mark on international playlists.

Here are some Ghanaian artistes whose songs have featured on the playlists of global figures.

    ‘Already’ Beyonce ft Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, made headlines after he featured in global star Beyonce’s “Already” song in 2019.

The congratulatory messages and applause at the time were overwhelming.

However, the song later made an appearance on the 2020 playlist of former U.S. President Barack Obama.

‘Mpempem Do Me’ by Daddy Lumba

Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, also got a recognition all the way from the United Kingdom.

The king of England, Royal Majesty King Charles III, on March 10, 2025, unveiled a personal playlist of songs that bring him happiness.

While the list featured various acts from the United States, Africa and the UK, Ghanaians could not help but notice the list featured ‘Mpempem Do Me’ by the iconic Daddy Lumba.

The song was captured among the 17-track selection alongside songs from global icons including Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Bob Marley, Grace Jones, and Davido.
