Three players from the local league were named in the 23-man squad for the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which was announced on March 14, 2025.

The team will face Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium before departing to face Madagascar in an away fixture on March 24, 2025.

This article puts the spotlight on local players who made the Black Stars squad:

    Benjamin Asare

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been sensational in the Ghana Premier League for the ‘Phobians’ this season.

He has kept 12 clean sheets, more than any other goalkeeper in Ghana, and has not conceded in his last six games across all competitions.

Asare will compete with Lawrence Ati-Zigi of FC St. Gallen and Joseph Wollacott for the goalkeeping spot.

    Razak Simpson

Nations FC defender Razak Simpson has retained his spot in the team following his impressive performances with the Black Stars in November 2024.

The defender featured in Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Angola on November 15, 2024, as well as the 2-1 defeat to Niger on November 18, 2024.

Simpson received massive applause from the public for his brilliant defensive skills, which aided the team defensively.

    Kamaradini Mamudu

Kamaradini Mamudu is a Ghanaian defender who plays for Medeama Sporting Club, which he joined in July 2024.

He has made seventeen appearances for the club and scored four goals with two assists in the 2024/2025 season.

The right-back will be looking forward to impressing Otto Addo and earning a spot in the Black Stars line-up.
