Benjamin Abbey Quaye, the son of Ghana Premier League legend Shamo Quaye, has expressed his desire to play for Hearts of Oak.
Abbey asserted that playing for the Phobians and following in his father’s footsteps has always been his dream; however, he would be glad to play for any team in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
He also clarified that despite his strong desire to play for Hearts of Oak, he wants to earn the contract on merit.
“My dream was to play for Hearts of Oak, but now any team will be fine. I’m still a Hearts of Oak boy,” he told Nkiminimsaah on TikTok.
He added that he had tried contacting Hearts of Oak about a possible move, but talks did not turn out as expected.
“I tried, (to join Hearts) but it didn’t go as planned. I want to earn things on merit. I’m good, so I can play. I don’t want it to feel like I’m playing just because my dad played.”
Benjamin Abbey Quaye was born in Sweden but was raised in Ghana. He began his juvenile career in the United Arab Emirates before returning to Ghana to enrol in high school.
He is currently unattached after departing from Ghanaian lower-tier side Accra Athletic.
