Ghanaian rapper, Medikal, has opened up about a moment from his past that could have derailed his entire career, had he listened.

During an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, he recounted a discouraging experience with a teacher who warned him against pursuing music.

“A teacher once told me that pursuing music would make me a loser, so I should stop doing music. Just imagine if I had listened to him,” he said.

Medikal explained that while he values advice, not every opinion is worth acting on.

“If I had listened to that advice, I won’t be sitting here today. I wouldn’t be able to voice out and put music out there so that’s the worst advice and I’m grateful to God that I didn’t listen to him,” he added.

When asked whether he ignores guidance altogether, the rapper clarified that he does consider advice, but only when it aligns with his vision.

He went on to reflect on the importance of staying true to one’s passion, even when others don’t see its potential.

“If you have belief and trust in something that will make you happy, you just have to be consistent at that side and it will work out for you.”
