Ghanaian rapper Medikal has commented on the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards nominations, sending a clear message to the awards board amid a heated battle for Artiste of the Year.

Medikal, known in private as Samuel Adu Frimpong, voiced his thoughts while on stage at the Kumawu Papa Nantwie Festival in the Ashanti Region in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, according to Ghanaweekend.

During his set, Medikal informed the audience that he had been nominated in several categories, including the prestigious Artiste of the Year. He told fans that his work and impact over the past year place him ahead of his rivals.

He urged the crowd to help send a warning to the awards organisers, insisting that the selection process remain fair. Using the phrase “No Libilibi No Labalaba,” Medikal emphasised that there should be no bias or favouritism in deciding the winner.

“You know they have nominated me for TGMA awards, including the Artiste of the Year. And we all know last year I worked more than everybody in that category. So tell them that ‘No Libilibi No Labalaba’ for the Artiste of the Year award. I outperformed every artiste the whole of last year,” he told the crowd while performing on stage.

The nominees for this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards were announced on Saturday, March 14, across all categories.

Public voting is now open, with fans rallying behind their favourite artistes and songs ahead of the main ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026.
