A medical doctor and obstetrician-gynecologist at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri, Yenagoa, has died following complications that arose shortly after she successfully delivered triplets.

Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi passed away at exactly 2:45am on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, where she had been rushed after her condition deteriorated following the delivery.

Her brother, Meshack Sintei, confirmed her death in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 15, describing the sequence of events that led to her passing.

According to Meshack, Dr. Ere successfully delivered the triplets at NDUTH in Okolobiri before complications set in, prompting her family to transfer her to FMC Yenagoa for emergency care. A team of doctors, specialists and medical experts at the facility’s ICU worked to stabilise her condition, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

“We watched her struggling to live, we watched her gasping for breath, we watched how the team of doctors and other experts and specialists in FMC kept trying their best to revive her,” Meshack wrote, adding that the pulse oximeter in the ICU eventually read down from 70 to 50 and then to zero.
He described his sister as a fighter who held on until the very end.

“After she successfully gave birth to Triplet at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) in Okolobiri, Yenagoa LGA Bayelsa State, complications arises that eventually forced us to rush her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in FMC Yenagoa,” he wrote.

“It was at the ICU in FMC that she eventually gave up the ghöst. My beloved sister, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi d!ed at exactly 2:45am on April 14th 2026.

“We watched her struggling to live, we watched her gasping for birth, we watched at how the team of doctors and other experts and specialists in FMC kept trying their best to revive her, we watched her fighting hard her to survive, and then all of a sudden; the Sp02machine (pulse oximeter) in the ICU began reading/measuring downwards from 70 to 50 and then to 0.

“It was at this point tears started rolling down my eyes 😢 and I knew the inevitable has come. It was a painful experience and more painful for her.

“I want her family and friends to know that she was a fighter to the end. Indeed a generation has been lost and the Sintei Family mourns. It is well. We thank our families, friends, loved ones and well wishers who have reached out and continued to reach out to us.

“(Until her dëäth, she was a Wife, a Mother to Triplet, a Medical Doctor, a Registrar at the NDUTH, a member of the NMA and an Alumnus of the Niger Delta University).”

Until her death, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi was a wife, a mother, a registrar at NDUTH, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, and an alumnus of Niger Delta University.

The three babies she delivered survived.

She is survived by her husband, her newborn triplets, and her family, who have called on friends and well-wishers to continue keeping them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
