Media General, the parent company of TV3, Onua TV, 3FM, and other outlets, has come under fire for its recent operational practices.

Former employee Sandra Esinam voiced concerns about the network airing content she deemed questionable and lacking intellectual rigor. In a social media post sighted by Zionfelix.net, Sandra criticized the platform for allowing certain presenters to propagate hate speech and illogical ideas.

She expressed disappointment, alleging that the Group CEO prioritizes accolades and awards over upholding the network’s journalistic standards. “It’s disheartening to see a once-respected institution like Media General, where I previously worked, now being used to air questionable content that showcases a lack of intellectual rigor,” she wrote.

Sandra expressed her view by sharing a video featuring Captain Smart, where he encouraged Obuasi youth to move to mining sites and grab what will make them survive if they are hungry.

“I’m baffled as to why the platform has allowed certain presenters to spread hate speech and nonsensical ideas,” Sandra continued. “While I understand that the media landscape is becoming increasingly competitive, with bloggers and influencers vying for attention, a responsible outlet like Media General should prioritize the nation’s interest and adhere to journalistic principles.”

She further lamented the decline of journalistic integrity within the organization, calling it a reflection of a broader societal trend toward celebrating mediocrity.

“Unfortunately, it seems that the Group CEO is more focused on collecting awards and accolades than on maintaining the network’s journalistic integrity,” Sandra added. “This is a stark reminder that, as a nation, we often celebrate mediocrity over meritocracy.”

Sandra concluded with a plea for Media General to rediscover its commitment to responsible and informative broadcasting, warning that the decline of such a prominent institution is a loss not only for the media industry but for the entire nation.
