On September 27, 2025, Sarkodie brought his flagship concert series, Rapperholic, to his hometown region of Kumasi in a special edition called “The Homecoming”.

For years, the show has been centered in Accra in December, but this marked a symbolic shift, a return to roots, and a celebration in Kumasi.

The venue was the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which played host to what many on social media described as one of the most energetic, massive concert nights Ghana has seen in 2025.

Days before the event, Kumasi was awash with anticipation.

Videos on social media showed the city buzzing with posters, fan hype, rehearsals, and setup. Sarkodie himself paid a courtesy call to the Asantehene and later hosted a health walk on the streets of Kumasi.

On the D-day, from early evening, large crowds gathered at the stadium.

Videos showed fans filling the stands while the final set-up was still ongoing.

Despite an hour of heavy rains, fans defied the rains to jam to the DJ/Hypeman session as they waited patiently for their favourite artistes.

Opening acts included local favorites, and the performances progressively built the momentum before the main headliner took the stage.

Various acts, including Hindu & Kweku Bany, Efya, Kweku Smoke, Kweku Flick, Oseikrom Sikani, and many others, showed up to thrill the audience.

Then, the moment arrived: Sarkodie, the undisputed king of Ghanaian rap, emerged under a cascade of lights and pyrotechnics.

He was later joined by colleague Shatta Wale, and their joint performance triggered loud cheers and trending clips online.

Many fan posts and video reels emphasised how Sarkodie connected with the crowd, sometimes pausing to soak in cheers, sometimes letting the crowd carry parts of the song.

The night’s best moments flooded TikTok, Instagram Reels, and X.

Many posts emphasised how the night was not just a concert but a cultural event for Kumasi.

People in the Ashanti Region expressed pride in hosting such a spectacle.
