AJ Auxerre defender Marvin Senaya has reported to the Black Stars camp in Vienna, bringing an end to a closely followed international eligibility battle.
The 25-year-old right-back arrived on Monday to link up with his teammates as Ghana intensifies preparations for upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Senaya’s decision follows a dual call-up situation that generated debate across West Africa. Patrice Neveu had named the defender in Togo national football team squad for matches against Guinea and Niger, citing a verbal commitment from the player.
The link to Togo stems from his father, former international Yao Mawuko Senaya. However, the Ghana Football Association ultimately secured his allegiance.
Senaya expressed pride and excitement after arriving in camp, describing his maiden call-up as a special moment. The defender, who has made 20 appearances and scored once this season, is expected to strengthen Ghana’s backline.
He is set to take part in his first full training session as preparations continue.
