Ghana defender Marvin Senaya made his debut for the Black Stars in their 5-1 defeat to Austria in an international friendly played on Friday in Vienna.

The 25-year-old right-back, who recently committed his international future to Ghana, was handed his first appearance as part of the team’s preparations for upcoming competitions. Despite the disappointing result, Senaya’s inclusion was one of the notable takeaways, as the technical team continues to assess new options within the squad.

Austria dominated proceedings and raced into an early lead through Marcel Sabitzer, who converted from the penalty spot. Further goals from Michael Gregoritsch and Stefan Posch put the hosts firmly in control before the hour mark.

Ghana briefly responded through captain Jordan Ayew, who pulled one back late in the game. However, late strikes from Carney Chukwuemeka and Nicolas Seiwald sealed a comprehensive win for Austria.

While the result exposed defensive weaknesses, Senaya’s debut offers a glimpse into the team’s evolving setup ahead of future assignments.
