Martin Amidu, the former Special Prosecutor, has deemed the recent commissioning of projects by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a last-minute attempt to hoodwink Ghanaians into voting for the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections.

In one of his usual epistles released on Monday, December 2, 2024, Martin Amidu questioned the timing of the projects, noting that it is a plot by the president to get Ghanaians to vote for his party.

Martin Amidu urged Ghanaians to be careful and vote for a candidate whose policies address their peculiar needs.

“President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is so scared of a free and fair democratic contest… that he reserved most of the infrastructural developments undertaken under his tenure to be commissioned by his chosen successor and himself within the last three months to the 7 December 2024 elections. It is a condescending insult to the electorate and a smokescreen to siphon public funds at the taxpayers’ expense.

“The electorate has historically exhibited an awareness of incumbent governments’ ploy to deliberately postpone the commissioning of projects… to cover up their mismanagement of the public purse, abuse of power, and corruption,” he observed.

He also added that “The corrupt and looting government machinery of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is so power-drunk that they only see the ordinary Ghanaian as a zombified idiot whose vote can be bought after dangling a few television pictures.”

President Akufo-Addo has, for the past month, commissioned a number of projects across the country.

On Monday, he commissioned phase two of the Tema Motorway Interchange.
