A Nigerian woman has shared a heartbreaking experience of abandonment and survival after becoming a single mother of four in her early 30s.
This follows a marriage that began when she was just 18 years old.
Speaking candidly on a podcast, she revealed that her ex-husband who fathered all four of her children has been completely absent from their lives for over a decade.
Now in her 30s, she recounted how she has shouldered the full responsibility of raising her children without any consistent support from her former partner.
She revealed that their daughter is now in her final year at university, yet her father has never contributed to her education or welfare.
“My ex is not in our lives. I got married to this man at the age of 18, I was 18 years old literally he was the first person I have ever been with in my life at the age of 18 I was already a child so imagine having to start my early 30s as already a single parent of four. When I say he’s no more in our lives I mean one hundred percent non existent in our lives and this is a man that I had for kids with and he doesn’t have any other kids anywhere, he honestly doesn’t care if they eat, if they go to school are they sick, do they need anything, he doesn’t. My daughter is in 300 level going to 400 level he has never paid a dime I think the only financial transaction that happened between me and that man in the last 12 years is fifty thousand naira.” She said
Her story has sparked conversations online about the struggles of single mothers without financial or emotional support from co-parents.
