Ghanaian gospel artiste Mavis Asante has encouraged young people not to be discouraged by the negative perceptions often associated with marriage, describing it as a beautiful journey that requires effort and commitment.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on February 10, 2026, the gospel singer noted that many misconceptions about marriage have created unnecessary fear among the youth.

According to her, marriage is not the end of one’s dreams or ambitions, as some people claim, but rather a responsibility that must be nurtured with the same energy people invest in their careers and businesses.

“Marriage is good. Don’t let anyone deceive you that marriage is bad and that when you marry, your life has ended.

“People have a lot of misconceptions about marriage, but trust me, marriage is like any other thing that you’re doing,” she said.

She explained that couples must be intentional and ready to put in the work to make their union successful.

“You have to put in all the work and effort. You can’t just say you’re married, so it ends there. All the energy you’re putting in your business or your career, you have to put that same energy in marriage and make sure it works,” she stated.

Mavis Asante further shared that with consistency, patience, and the right partner, marriage becomes fulfilling.

“As the day goes by, you will see changes. If you’re fortunate to get an understanding partner, then you might be on the right path,” she added.
