Ghanaian dancehall superstar Stonebwoy has shared personal insights into the often overlooked responsibilities that come with marriage, emphasizing that the true cost of being a husband stretches well beyond mere financial commitments.

In an exclusive interview with Joy Prime, the Into the Future hitmaker spoke candidly about the profound emotional, physical, and psychological investments required in sustaining a healthy marital relationship.

“Interestingly, marriage is expensive, and having a wife comes with its own costs,” Stonebwoy stated. “You have to invest time, which is incredibly valuable. You need to allocate resources, which are never cheap. You must give attention—and even attention comes at a price. These are things you simply cannot buy.”

The celebrated artist, known for his socially conscious lyrics and deep connection with fans, used the opportunity to shed light on the often-unspoken pressures men face within the institution of marriage. He described how societal norms consistently position men as primary providers, a role that, while embraced, carries significant emotional weight.

“As a man, I grew up in a household where I witnessed responsibility firsthand,” he noted. “I understand that societal norms expect men to be caretakers. While it is a role we accept, it’s certainly not easy—and it definitely isn’t cheap. The costs are real.”

Stonebwoy’s remarks resonated with many, particularly those navigating similar marital and societal expectations.

His openness adds another layer to the growing conversation around emotional labor in relationships and the importance of acknowledging the unseen efforts that go into maintaining a family.

Fans and followers have praised the musician not only for his artistic excellence but also for using his platform to address critical social issues with honesty and vulnerability.
