Music executive and artiste manager, Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod has disclosed that managing Shatta Wale was one of the toughest jobs of his career, admitting it almost cost him important relationships in the music industry.

In an interview on JoyPrime, Bullgod described Shatta Wale as one of the most difficult artistes he has ever worked with, pointing to the singer’s unpredictable behavior and disregard for agreements as major hurdles.

“He insulted my boss at Charterhouse and I was working with them at the time. That nearly cost me a lot. I got a lot of enemies just managing Shatta Wale,” Bullgod revealed.

According to him, the situation placed him in a very tough position, torn between protecting his relationship with industry stakeholders and remaining loyal to the artiste he represented.

He admitted that such incidents were frequent, making his job even more complicated.

“Managing him felt like a test. I hope I passed,” he said.

Bullgod recalled several occasions where Shatta Wale would commit to engagements and then abruptly back out.

‘Shatta does real Dancehall, Stonebwoy focuses on Afro-Dancehall’– Bullgod

“You can have an agreement with him, and the next morning he will refuse to go for the engagement,” he explained.

He cited one example involving the Ghana Music Awards, where organisers had agreed that Shatta Wale would perform only one song. On the night of the event, however, the artiste went against the arrangement and did something entirely different.

“There was an agreement during the meeting that he would perform only one song and he did something different,” Bullgod said.

The artiste manager also addressed Shatta Wale’s reputation for stirring controversy in the media. He explained that the artiste escalated situations by moving from one radio platform to another, intensifying issues rather than resolving them.

“He went on Joy FM, had issues there, and before it could end, he continued on YFM,” Bullgod noted.

Bullgod said despite the difficulties, he does not consider his time with Shatta Wale a failure. He pointed to some milestones they achieved together, including the artiste’s return to the Ghana Music Awards after years of absence.

“After he came back, we were able to get him nominated, and he won,” he recalled.

Bullgod further praised Shatta Wale’s musical influence, calling him as one of Ghana’s most impactful artistes.

“He is a good musician, no doubt. He understands the music, he knows how to connect with the streets, and he has built a strong following. Whether people like him or not, Shatta is the dancehall king of Ghana,” he stated.
