Samuel Amankwah and Pastor Love Samuel Amankwah and Pastor Love

Samuel Amankwah, the man who sued Pastor Love over a car deal, has stated that he is delighted with the decision by the Accra Circuit Court to sentence his estranged friend to jail.

According to him, Pastor Love’s actions regarding the sale of a vehicle were disappointing, considering the fact that they have been friends since childhood.

He also lamented the huge funds he had to invest to deal with the embattled pastor legally, adding that the court has assured him he (Sammy) would get the price of the vehicle back despite the sentencing.

“I was given an attorney at the police headquarters. I have invested a lot in this case. Whenever my brother goes to court, I spend not less than $200 on flights to travel from Kumasi to Accra. I also spent on court proceedings as well. He thought I would let the issue go, but I didn’t.

“I have never seen a wicked person like Pastor Love before. People were advising me to let the issue go because he is wicked, but I didn’t. Despite the sentence, the judge said the court is requesting the $50,000, and after he pays, I can come to Ghana to plead with the court to pardon him,” Amankwah said during an interview with Kofi TV.

    Background

Pastor Love was jailed for 48 months by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing a car.

Pastor Love was taken to court in 2017 for selling a car without the owner’s consent.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Samuel Amankwah, shipped a Toyota Highlander into the country in 2016 and asked Pastor Love to clear it.

After clearing the car, Amankwah asked Pastor Love to sell it for Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) and deduct the money for clearing the car from it.

He later rescinded this decision because he was scheduled to be in Ghana in April 2017, so he could pay Pastor Love the money for clearing the car.

However, when he arrived in Ghana, Pastor Love could not produce the car despite several demands.

When Pastor Love was arrested for failing to produce the car, he explained that he had secured a loan of Forty Thousand cedis (GH¢40,000.00) with 20% interest to clear the car.

He said the loan was accruing more interest, so he sold the car without Amankwah’s consent for Eighty Thousand cedis (GH¢80,000) and gave Seventy Thousand cedis (GH¢70,000.00) to the loan company.

He, however, could not lead the police to the said loan company and was unable to show the police the person who bought the car.

When the case was called before His Honour Isaac Addo, Pastor Love pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy since he is a first-time offender and was ready to pay any fine, but his plea was rejected.
