A U.S. Army officer has warmed hearts online after sharing a story about love, trust, and partnership that has sustained his marriage for over six years.

In a post shared on X (Twitter), the soldier recounted how, before leaving for 12 weeks of Basic Training, he gave his then-girlfriend, now his wife, full access to his bank accounts.

At the time, his partner was a postgraduate student earning a university stipend.

With limited contact while he was in training, she managed his bills, rent, and car payments, keeping detailed records of every transaction.

“So I enlisted in the US Army, and my girlfriend (now wife) had full access to my bank accounts. At the time, she was a postgraduate student, earning a stipend from the university. I went off to 12 weeks of Basic Training, meaning no phone, no outside contact, nothing. Before leaving, I set up all my bills and gave her access to my bank apps. Car loan, rent, phone bills, everything. My three months’ salary was paid into the account. This amazing woman handled it all. She kept an Excel sheet tracking every dollar that came in and went out. She planned our entire wedding by herself and didn’t go overboard on spending, not even once.” He wrote

The soldier added that the couple has continued to manage their finances together ever since.

Although his Training restricted their communication, contact only came through handwritten letters and rare five- to ten-minute phone calls.

He concluded his post by offering heartfelt advice about love and commitment, asking people never to compromise on someone loving them.
