A man has ended things with his wife-to-be because she insisted she couldn’t pound yams when she could use the electric yam pounder.
Two weeks after their engagement, the lady decided to visit her fiancé’s parents to spend some few days.
When she got there and it was time to cook, her soon-to-be mother-in-law told her to peel yams and prep for pounded yam.
While at it, the woman kept coming in and out of the kitchen, observing her.
In her words: “You know you Gen Z children only know
how to prepare noodles.
Some of you don’t even prepare that well”
After the lady was done peeling, her fiancée’s mother said she had done fair.
On reaching for the electric yam pounder, the mother brought out a mortar and pestle for her instead.
In her defense, the lady politely declined, explaining that she doesn’t pound yam manually.
After a back and forth, she decided to do it.
She gets exhausted and dropped the pestle.
Her fiancée’s mother insisted that it was one of the many tests she must pass to be fitting for her son.
While in the heat, the fiancé stepped in.
Both parties explained the situation, and he concluded that his fiancée either does what his mother said or they call it quit.
The lady handed him the engagement ring where he stood., went back to his place, packed her belonging and called a friend to come and pick her.
