A 33-year-old man, Enoch Abrokwa, has died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a piece of broken glass by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, during a misunderstanding at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The deceased, who sustained a deep wound that affected his intestines, died on October 14, 2026, while receiving treatment at the Ridge Hospital.
The Accra Regional Police Command, in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, said the incident occurred on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the deceased’s business premises.
Preliminary investigations indicated that a disagreement between the two escalated, resulting in the suspect allegedly stabbing Abrokwa in the chest with the broken glass.
He was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for the injury.
The suspect was arrested on October 10, 2026, after the complainant and three others brought her to the police.
According to the police, Asante reportedly admitted to stabbing the deceased and remained in police custody as investigations continued.
She was subsequently put before court and remanded into police custody to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence.
It also called on the public to cooperate with the police as investigations continued and appropriate action was taken in accordance with the law.
