Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin has questioned the rationale behind John Dramani Mahama’s call on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to nominate Alban Sumana Bagbin.

To him, this move by John Dramani Mahama, who is the president-elect, makes the legislative arm of government an appendage of the executive.

Afenyo Markin made this known when he stood up to second the motion of Alban Bagbin’s nomination.

He indicated that this “will make the house an appendage of the executive,” indicating that he “is not opposing the motion but wants my views reflected in the Hansard.”

The position expressed by the minority leader was opposed by some members of the majority, who openly indicated that there is no executive in place at the moment and therefore his argument does not hold water.
