John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to attract petroleum investors to Ghana despite a 35% decline in crude oil production, which he attributes to corruption under the current government .

Mahama criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for scaring away investors with opaque deals and corruption scandals. He emphasized that the energy sector’s decline is a result of the government’s mismanagement, regulatory failures, and corruption .

Mahama promised to revamp the energy sector by addressing the current challenges, including the significant drop in crude oil production. He also highlighted the need to restore investor confidence in the sector .

It’s worth noting that the decline in crude oil production has been a concern for the Ghanaian economy. Mahama’s pledge to attract investors and revamp the energy sector is seen as a key part of his campaign promises.
